What is a TLDR?
TLDR is a playfully ambiguous acronym intended to combine the concepts of both the well known “Too Long; Didn’t Read” (TL;DR) and a “Tailored Daily Report”.
A Tailored Daily Report is a work-product that results from distilling down lots of raw information (i.e., too long) to just the relevant information that someone will read.

What is OpenTLDR?
OpenTLDR is a collection of open-source software that supports research into the automated production of tailored daily reports from raw internet information content.
This research framework works out of the box and is designed for easy replacement of any component so researchers can quickly integrate and evaluate solutions in an end-to-end system.
The Value of a Tailored Daily Report
The right media content has value to its consumers. But, the system breaks down when content providers prioritize attracting and holding attention over providing valuable content.
A TLDR seeks to leverage AI/ML technologies to reduce the attention and cognitive load required to connect users with content of value to them.
Get more value while spending less attention.
Do I have to share my code?
No. Our license allows you to use our software and never share anything back with the community.
Alternatively, we would love for you to join our community, share your insights, and compare your results in a friendly collaborative environment where your work might become the baseline that challenges future researchers. It is your choice.
Why do we need a framework?
TLDR production requires multiple coordinated steps. The end result is influenced by every stage in this pipeline. However, each supporting technology tends to be a separate speciality research topic. So, OpenTLDR standardizes the interfaces and APIs, allowing researchers to quickly get their ideas up and running with those of others.
What is the ultimate goal here?
Knowledge workers produce and consume information. Our goal is to make the RELEVANT information (i.e., useful for a given purpose) more SALIENT (i.e., highly visible).
We do this by filtering and tailoring larges amounts of content down to just the most important bits and making that easy for a knowledge worker to consume.
